Beta Theta Pi is well-known for its scholastic achievements,
both on paper and in principle. Beta was the first fraternity
to adopt a 2.5 minimum GPA for a chapter (1984) and to mandate
a 2.7 minimum GPA for each member (1997). We also celebrate
more Rhodes Scholars (over 80 of them) and have more members
listed in Canadian
Who’s Who and Who’s Who in America
than any other fraternity.
Our chapter in Toronto is proud of the fact that it spawned
a Supreme Court judge, Justice
John Sopinka who served from 1988-1997.
At our chapter house, we expect our members to concentrate
on their schoolwork. Social events and other activities
are always scheduled around scholastic achievement and we
encourage each other’s scholastic success by enforcing
quiet hours, conducting group study sessions and by helping
each other grasp concepts learned in class.
To emphasize our devotion to scholastics, this year Beta
Theta Pi in Toronto is awarding a $500 scholarship to a
new member.
