“Test your strength against all
others…” |

Since its founding in 1839, Beta Theta Pi Fraternity has
initiated more than 160,000 university men throughout Canada
and the United States. And it comes as no surprise that
most of these members count their membership in Beta Theta
Pi as one of the wisest decisions they ever made. |

Principle
In everything Betas do, there is an underlying principle of
brotherhood that keeps them committed to each other, to their
community and to the betterment of humankind. Indeed, brotherhood
is like friendship, but at Beta Theta Pi we add a true sense
of purpose where we achieve common goals through mutual aid
and assistance. Whether it’s hosting a soirée
or feeding the homeless, Betas always act in the spirit of
friendship that contributes to a rich history of making good
men better. |

Experiencing Beta
At Beta Theta Pi you will become part of a wide range of
experiences, suited for people of different tastes, talents,
goals and aspirations. We aim to make your life better and
to help you achieve the experience and support that will
enable you to succeed in all aspects of life.
From September to May, you will have the opportunity to
meet countless new people, fraternize with some of Toronto’s
business leaders (our alumni), participate in philanthropy
events, party it up with sorority girls, play intramural
sports, join a group study session, help construct and maintain
the fraternity house, recruit new members, and much more!
Indeed, these are experiences that you would never have
been able to come across as a “normal” student
at U of T. |

How will Beta Theta Pi affect
my schooling?
At Beta Theta Pi, we are committed to cultivating the intellect
and believe that education is an important key to improve
the individual, the fraternity and the world we live in. Therefore,
we not only promote, but expect, our members to concentrate
on school. Our board includes a Scholastic Chairman whose
responsibility it is to ensure that proper study sessions
are being held and that everyone meets our minimum 2.7 GPA
requirement. |

How much does it cost to be
a Beta?
To join Beta there are some initial one-time costs, as well
as annual dues. THERE ARE NO COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH COMING
OUT TO FIND OUT WHAT WE ARE ABOUT.
The first fee is called a Pledge Fee which covers the materials
and administration necessary to get you set up as a Pledge
(a prospective member). This cost is $90.
Following the Pledge Period, you will become a member.
There is a $250 fee attached to that, which includes the
Beta badge, a membership “shingle” and a lifetime
subscription to the Beta Theta Pi Magazine.
Annual membership fees depend on whether you live in the
house or not. If you live in the house, then you pay no
fees (it is included in your rent). And rent at the house
is unbeatable at an average of $500/month.
If you don’t live in the house, annual membership
fees are $250/semester.
If you have any questions about these costs, what you get
for your money, and what the ongoing fees are, feel free
to contact
our Treasurer.
